Wednesday Night Reflection

I arrived at Pier 17 in lower #Manhattan a little before six o’clock this Wednesday evening, feeling relaxed and ready to reflect on a virtual Impact Leadership Conference that I recently attended.

Worth mentioning, one of my favorite authors, John Maxwell, was a featured speaker at the event, which was a bonus as far I was concerned.

With that in mind, stop reading for a few seconds, and favor me by taking another glance at the first slide. Then, envision me walking past the Lightship, Ambrose, docked at Pier 17, located just off to my right.

Now that you feel like you have been mentally transported right beside me, you watch in awe as I start searching for a bench to sit down and reflect on the messages that resonated with me the most from the leadership conference.

To my delight, I quickly found a cozy-looking bench, beautifully illuminated with calming blue and white lights, which I thought was the perfect spot to journal my thoughts from another memorable day.

A few minutes later, I was sitting at the end of the bench mentioned above, totally wrapped up in the moment, and before I knew it, I entered into the desired reflective mindset I deliberately came there for…you gotta love it!

While being in this magical state of flow with my eyes shut tight, I began concentrating on the soothing sounds of the East River along with my feelings in this precious moment, and everything around me.

Shortly into having my eyes closed tightly, I started to hear the lovely noise of the water crashing up against the pier while at the same time noticing that the dock was moving ever so slowly, swaying back and forth from the force of the December wind.

Friends, as soon as I opened my eyes, I looked straight ahead, and that’s when I spotted the red and white Lightship Ambrose again, shining so pretty and so bright, with several #NewYorkCity skyscrapers standing tall and strong in the background on a dark and cold night.

After appreciating this peaceful moment, I next experienced what I like to refer to as a flash of clarity of thought, and the words for my newest journal entry came into my mind. I spent the next ten minutes typing every word into my #iPhone journal app effortlessly as I continued sitting on the illuminated bench comfortably and lost in thought!

Well, folks, I will stop it here because I am approaching the maximum character limit for a post.

If you’re now curious about my thoughts on leadership, be on the lookout for a future #LinkedIn article, post, or podcast episode on this important topic. 😊

Until we meet again on Saturday at 11 am ET, have a relaxing evening and a fantastic rest of your week. Let’s go!
