A Cold Night in the City
After completing my last virtual meeting on Microsoft Teams this Tuesday evening, I went outside to clear my mind and to get some much-needed fresh air.
Within minutes, I found myself standing outside in front of a ferry walkway, marveling at the vivid imagery as the cold air was whipping around and beating up against my face. Yikes! 😰
Did you just now feel a rush of cold air blow on your body? 🥶
I soon started feeling #grateful for the mask I had on during this moment because it shielded my face from the freezing wind, keeping my face nice and warm.
Next, I began to chuckle as I mentally acknowledged that this was another excellent use of wearing a mask, which we started doing due to this crazy pandemic. Lol!
After laughing at myself for a few seconds, I turned around slowly and proceeded to walk on the boardwalk towards a friend’s waterfront apartment building illustrated below.
Now moving in that direction quickly, my insatiable appetite for capturing my thoughts while embracing the present moment activated unexpectedly, which was a pleasant surprise.
The next thing I knew, I was unconsciously typing my thoughts in real-time into my iPhone journal app for the next six minutes straight as I continued walking towards the waterfront building.
Once I came out of that six-minute writing flow, I looked up, and my eyes became fixated on a gorgeous view of a short bridge shining brightly, reflecting its light on top of the river with the beige waterfront apartment building sitting in the background.
What’s more, it just so happened that a friend of mine was walking nearby, whom I ended up chatting with and making an impromptu trip to Starbucks, where we finished our conversation, drinking a cup of blonde roast coffee — the end!
Well, friends, I felt like writing this evening, and after reviewing my latest journal entry of me walking around the city, I decided to share the story with you tonight. 😊
Have a pleasant evening.
